We are excited that you have made J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College your college of choice. As a new student at Drake State, you are bound to have questions. New Student Orientation (NSO) is designed around you, helping to uncover the answers to the questions you have, and providing you information about campus resources, programs, and services. We are here to assist you in reaching your college goals, and all students are required to attend NSO.
J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College iStart Strong New Student Orientation (NSO) will equip new students with the knowledge and resources that will assist them with a successful transition into the college. Incoming students will learn how to succeed academically and socially building a solid foundation of student success.
Steps to Success at Drake State:
Please make sure to have completed the following before attending orientation.
- Submit an application for Admission: Apply online. You will receive the following emails to the account you provided on your application: Welcome Email, New Student Orientation Email containing your Banner Self Service “D” number and Missing Document Email (only if you are missing any documentation to process your application).
- Take the ACCUPLACER Assessment: Accuplacer assesses Math, English and Reading. The assessment could take up to 2.5 hours. The Testing Center is located in Building 700, RM 705. Appointments are not needed but can be scheduled with the Testing and Assessment Office.
- Apply for Financial Aid: Apply at www.fafsa.edu.gov . Go to the Financial Aid office for help with the cost of education. Located in Building 700, RM 703.
