Electrical Technology Program
Program Description
The Electrical Technology Program is a curriculum designed to teach courses in basic electricity, solid
state devices, basic wiring, transformers, fluid power, national electric code, motor controls, programmable logic controls, ac/dc drives, industrial robotics, technical communications and mathematics. The course is deigned not only for training beginners, but also for training electricians currently employed in the field.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Electrical Program may become employed as an Industrial Electrician, Control Technician, Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation Technician, PLC Programmer or Industrial Electrical Inspector.

Skills Needed
Successful Electricians are in good physical condition; have above average agility and dexterity and possess above average color vision in order to identify electrical wires. It is also beneficial for electricians working in the construction field to have a basic knowledge of Spanish
Expected Earnings/Salary
Earnings for Electricians as reported by the 2010-2011 Occupational Outlook Handbook are as follows:
Median hourly earnings of $23.98
The middle 50 percent earn between $17.00 and $29.88 hourly
The highest 10 percent earn more than $38.18 an hour
Course Requirements
The program offers an Associate Degree in Applied Technology - Electrical Technology, a Career Entry Certificate -Electrical Technology, a Career Skills Certificate -in Residential Electricity and Wiring, and a Career Skills Certificate - Electrical Controls. Click here for course requirements.
