ACCS DAY - Montogomery 2016

The Alabama Community College System will host its 2nd Annual Alabama Community College System Day, in recognition of National Community College Month, on Tuesday, April 5, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., in Montgomery. The event will take place on the lawns of the Alabama State Capitol and State Archives and History building.  The College is taking 100 students, faculty and staff to support higher education in the Alabama Community College System. During the program we will hear from students and faculty of the colleges, business and industry representatives, legislators, Dr. Mark Heinrich, Chancellor of the System and Gov. Robert Bentley. In addition to the speakers, there will be exhibits showcasing student work including Welding, Healthcare, 3D imaging, Robotics and Culinary Arts.

Faculty, staff, and students are asked to represent their Colleges well and be comfortable. Cool, comfortable and appropriate attire is welcomed including jeans and khakis. Please use your best judgement as it relates to the weather and elements. All students are asked to wear their program uniforms or Drake apparel. T-shirts and other Drake paraphernalia are available for purchase in the Bookstore. Outside seating will not be provided, however, blankets and lawn chairs are permitted (cannot use chairs that could possibly ruin the lawn).

Please consider joining the Drake family as we celebrate Alabama Community College System Day. We have a responsibility to ensure that our legislators know about our colleges, faculty and staff and the great things happening on our campuses. We need a huge number to represent Drake State for many reasons including changes that may impact our College. Please sign up beginning Monday, February 15th through Eventbrite, which can be found on our website or by following the link provided below. The deadline to register is March 22nd and will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided. We need you to be involved in this activity. Please contact the Office of the President or Student Support Services for any questions you may have.
