Drake State Community and Technical College
Huntsville, AL - Two students will represent J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College during the All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Luncheon on Friday, April 15, in Montgomery.
Apasra Moore of Atlanta, GA and Jennifer Crews of Huntsville, AL will be among 50 students representing two-year colleges within the Alabama Community College System. All-Alabama Academic Team students are nominated by their respective colleges. Students selected must possess a minimum GPA of 3.25, be involved in campus activities and have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours at their respective colleges.
“They have to truly distinguish themselves through excellence in academic and technical pursuits, commitment to personal and professional skills development, and conscientious and passionate devotion to your future career,” said ACCS Chancellor Dr. Mark Heinrich to all of the All-Alabama Academic Team honorees last year. “It is an honor and pleasure to recognize these students as being among the best and brightest within the Alabama Community College System.”
Moore is majoring in AAS Business Administration Management and has maintained a 3.56 GPA while at Drake State. She plans to attend a four year university and earn a BS in business management. She is the current Miss Drake State, a student Ambassador, member of Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa, and is a work study participant at the college.
Crews is majoring in Nursing and has maintained a 3.73 GPA at Drake State. She plans to pursue her nursing career in Huntsville. She is a member of Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa, and is currently serving as a tutor for Drake State’s tutorial services.
“We are all very proud of Apasra and Jennifer for being a part of the All-Alabama Academic Team. They are examples of the outstanding academic achievements and the leadership accomplishments earned by Drake State students. They are role models. We look forward to seeing the difference they will make in our community as they continue their education,” said Drake State’s Acting President Dr. Kemba Chambers.
The All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program was founded in 1995 to complement the All-USA National Academic Team Program sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
